Brian Dickerson has been writing for the Free Press for over twenty years. During this period he has investigated, contemplated and written about leaders of every shape and form. At times controversial, he has offered his thoughts and opinions to thousands of readers each week. In this session, Brian will discuss some of the traits and attributes he has observed over the years that have defined leadership in the region in both positive and negative ways. What makes leadership work for the good of our world and what can we learn from the leaders that have stumbled and fallen? Participants in this session will be provided an opportunity to examine their own leadership and give thought to the image and legacy they will leave behind.
Following the theme “Defining Leadership,” the series will explore the various ways that leadership in our area has been, and possibly will be, defined. What has worked? What models have failed us? How have individual leaders risen above challenging circumstances and led with integrity? How could innovation and creativity redefine our perception of leadership and the health of the region in the future? Attendees will hear from a diverse range of speakers as they offer their experience and perspective on these important questions. Highlights of the program include:
