Since 1990, the Leadership Oakland Cornerstone Program has brought together more than 1,300 leaders from corporate, civic and non-profit organizations throughout the community. Graduates of the program have put their knowledge and network to work by becoming key contributors in their communities and places of business.

"Because of Leadership Oakland, I now sit on two non-profit boards and am much more involved with community projects."

Each year, as part of the 9-month program, 50 developing leaders delve into the issues facing the region -- from education, government and the justice system to health and human services and race and ethnic diversity. In-depth, monthly sessions, led by experts in each of these arenas, focus on both the treasures and challenges facing the region. Our goal is to take developing leaders and provide them with a rich network of colleagues, a deep understanding of the region's challenges and the opportunity to achieve value for their own organizations, creating new levels of leadership. Through Leadership Oakland, today's leaders will grow in their personal, professional and public leadership ability.

"I got my dream job through a person I met at Leadership Oakland. I can't think of any other business group that has made such an impact on my professional network."

We strive to be the premier leadership and networking organization serving Southeast Michigan.

To develop a network of diverse and influential leaders by exposing them to regional resources and issues, and challenging them to reach their full personal, professional, and public leadership potential.

Diversity Value Statement

We strive to model and promote diversity and inclusion as a means to strengthen leadership. We do this by: respecting and encouraging all perspectives; and engaging diverse populations in all activities.
