The Leadership Oakland (LO) Board of Directors has announced the selection of Denise Asker as its new Executive Director.  Asker will fill the vacancy created by Chris Scharrer who is slated to retire from the organization in June, after 10 years of service.

Asker’s background includes more than 15 years of business development, management, marketing, public relations, crisis communications, branding, strategic planning and special event planning.  She has served as the Executive Director of the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce, and has eight years of non-profit management experience.  She is a former consultant for her firm, Asker Consulting, LLC and served in leadership roles for three global advertising agencies and a local public relations firm.  She holds a master’s degree in management from Walsh College and a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Wayne State University.  Asker resides in Oakland County with her family.

As LO celebrates its 25th year in 2015, Asker is committed to shaping the organization’s next chapter. “I am honored to lead this renowned association.  This role provides a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with our region’s leaders.” According to Asker, she is dedicated to this new role as it supports emerging and experienced leaders grow professionally, personally and in their public lives.   For more information about Leadership Oakland, currently accepting applications for the 2015-2016 class, www.LeadershipOakland.com
