The fight for justice may seem like a losing battle as acts of terrorism, news of questionable political behavior and corruption, and ever-growing cybersecurity issues capture attention daily. At the forefront of the fight is U.S. Attorney, Barbara McQuade, the featured speaker at Leadership Oakland’s final 2016 Breakfast of Champions Series on Wednesday, April 27, from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the MSU Management Education Center, 811 W. Square Lake Road, Troy.
Join dozens of other professionals and civic-minded leaders to hear firsthand about the leadership strength and savvy needed to execute justice swiftly and fairly to protect our region. Barbara McQuade holds the distinction of being the first female to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. She was appointed by President Obama in 2010. Since then, she has worked tirelessly on behalf of our communities. Significant cases include the conviction of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on public corruption charges, the conviction and life sentence of an Al-Qaeda operative for attempting to blow up an airliner over Detroit on Christmas Day in 2009, and the conviction of Dr. Farid Fata, who over treated and lied to hundreds of patients about having cancer so that he could bill Medicare for expensive chemotherapy treatments.
Barbara will share some of the highlights of her time in this role and encourage all of us to be strong, ethical community and business leaders.
